Applied Geochemistry

South Pacific Isotope Centre (SPICe Lab)

We use isotopes and elements as tracers to solve environmental, agricultural, and geological resource challenges.

SPICe Lab is a developing geochemistry center in southern Chile, focused on using isotopes, trace elements, and microscale chemistry to support decision-making in environmental, agricultural, and natural resource matters.

We help researchers, companies, and institutions interpret geochemical signals, design sampling strategies, and connect measurements with real processes in soils, waters, carbonates, and mineral systems.

SPICe Lab

How can we support you today?

While SPICe Lab's own analytical facilities are under development, we already offer consulting services, data interpretation, and project design, working with an international network of laboratories when high-precision measurements are required.

Geochemical Consulting

For research groups, companies, and public institutions.

Data Interpretation

Isotopic and elemental data from waters, soils, carbonates, and other minerals.

Project Design

Sampling strategies for environmental, agricultural, and resource studies.

Report Review

Isotopic ratios, trace elements, rare earth elements, and more.

Technical Advisory

Selection of analytical techniques and international sample coordination.

Analysis & Visualization

Transforming measurements into useful information for decision-making.

Laser Microanalysis

Laser ablation consulting: methods, quality control, and result interpretation.

Key focus areas

SPICe Lab is being designed around the following areas of isotopic and trace element geochemistry:

Critical Materials

Geochemical fingerprints of Li, rare earths, and strategic minerals in brines, ores, and related materials.

Agriculture & Soils

Tracing nutrient cycles and soil-plant interactions with elemental and isotopic tools.

Environmental Isotopes

Understanding water pathways, pollution sources, and sedimentary or carbonate archives.

Laser Ablation

High-resolution elemental mapping and in-situ chemistry in carbonates, mineral grains, and industrial materials.

Isotopic Tracers

Linking geochemical signals with sources, processes, and environmental change.

U-Th Geochronology

Available through international laboratories, with our support in sample selection and interpretation.

Who we work with

We generate value for different sectors by connecting advanced science with real industry and academic needs.

Academia

Universities and research groups requiring high-precision data for publications and studies.

Mining & Exploration

Lithium and strategic mineral companies needing geochemical fingerprints for exploration or production.

Agriculture

Producers, soil labs, and advisors seeking to understand nutrient cycles and soil-plant interactions.

Environment

Consultants, NGOs, and public agencies focused on water resources, pollution, and land use.

Analytical workflow at this stage

We operate under a hybrid model: we provide the scientific intelligence and guarantee analytical quality through our global network.

01

Design & Strategy

We define with you which isotopes or elements best answer your question and design the sampling (SPICe Lab).

02

Sample Management

We coordinate physical preparation and secure shipping to certified international laboratories.

03

International Analysis

Measurement at world-class collaborating facilities (while we build our own lab).

04

Interpretation

We transform raw data into digestible geochemical reports useful for decision-making (SPICe Lab).

Work with us

If you need isotopic or geochemical support for a research project, an exploration program, or an environmental study, SPICe Lab can help with consulting, interpretation, and analytical strategy.

Let's discuss your needs and design the appropriate geochemical approach for your project.
